Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I used to go to this place twenty some years ago when it was called Taco Hut. I've only ever ordered one thing, and this time was no exception: taco burgers! I live in southern California now, and you can't find them here; probably because they are close to Mexican food as Canadian food would be. The meat is the consistency of Mexican cat food (actual Mexican cat?) but they are soooo delicious. Perfect for after hours drunken food cravings.

The Taco Hut has been renamed Great Bend Taco. It's directly across from a hotel that I have stayed at twice a year for the past several years. I have avoided dining there until my last visit to Great Bend. There is nothing in the name "Taco Hut" or "Great Bend Taco" that screams authenticity. I think that was reason enough to keep me away. Nevertheless, I caved in and gave it a shot after trying almost every other restaurant in Great Bend over the years. I was pretty disappointed. The taco and burrito I had consisted of flavorless ground beef. I see comments about the food being overpriced, but I don't agree. The price was reasonable, just bland food. I don't plan on going back again.

If you like mexican food, don't go to this place. The beef tacos were okay, but everything else was not. They serve refried beans straight out of a can, lots of tortilla chips with every plate, and some kind of sweet red sauce that is probably russian salad dressing. the enchilada sauce was a slightly cumin-flavored brown gravy-like substance which looked like dog food. This was a horrible experience and a complete waste of money. If your idea of good Mexican food is Taco Bell, this place will disappoint. If you like ACTUAL Mexican food, this place will make you wanna gargle with cheap tequila to rid your palate and mind of the memory of this dive

Note: TACO HUT has been renamed and is now GREAT BEND TACO. I have to say that I have mixed feelings about Great Bend Taco / Taco Hut. On one hand, it is pretty crappy, overpriced fast-food Mexican food. On the other hand, they have a couple of items that I really like and every once in a while I'm in the mood for just crappy Mexican food. The bottom line is, if you're in town for a short time and want good Mexican food, there are much better places in town. (Just about every other Mexican place in town is better). Go to Playa Azul or La Fiesta. Prices are about the same, but food is much better.

Simple review: Over priced Taco Bell.

This is one of the local favorites. It's been around since the 70s, I think. It's certainly not authentic Mexican food, but rather a tex mex. They quick steam many of their entrees, which gives a unique taste. Contrary to what the other reviewer says, this is not an overpriced Taco Bell. In fact, the prices are pretty comparable, but the food is much higher quality and tastes way better.
